SEO - Art or Science?

 

We'd like to think a bit of both!! Site optimisation undoutedly needs a logical, scientific approach, in order to understand the workings of the search engine algorithms, and to work out what seo techniques are working and which aren't.

 

However, taking this knowledge and translating it into an optimised website design, is we believe, as much art as it is science! For example, lateral thinking is often required to identify so-called 'long-tail' keywords, which are the search words people use to make a search highly specific - so rather than 'blue widgets' which could give 20 million results, they might focus on companies close to them, 'blue widgets south east london' etc.
